QR code generator and site scavenger hunt maker
Today I am struggling through making an on site QR code generator. I know that other people have done it, I have downloaded the drupal module mobile codes, and now i just need to figure it out. In theory once you can create your own QR codes you can also modify them to be logos as well as QR codes in various ways. The QR codes can be used like mosaic tiles in a large scale way, or in a miniature scale the logo can be hidden within the individual square icons.

Perusing the basic flow of information og Google it looks like you can have a lot of fun creating QR scavenger hunts if you know how to link them up say to a flikr account that can have photographic clues. The examples I saw used simple flyers placed in strategic areas, the sort of thing which can easily be deconstucted after the activity is done. One of my deep curiosities is if we could use a more premanent form of QR code embedding in public spaces to create games that reveal important historical information, or even environmental education. In this case I am thinking of ways to attract a more digitally literate toutist crowd to the Northcoast. We have a lot to offer in the way of lodging and recreation in the greater Eureka and Arcata area, however we need a little bit of superstructing to make it more dynamic and fun and maybe we could become a sort of get-away for the early digital adapters who want to personally explore the habitat and restoration projects we have here as an important tourism resource. We even have an organic co-operative dairy that makes great organic strawberry ice-cream this time of year. A delicious and informative scavenger hunt is floating around in my mind and due to be tossed around at todays crafty meetup at Ashleigh's in Eureka.
