strategies part one

Its a mystery to me how to create my own generator, however the Kaywa QR-generator works fine for simple urls. It would be possible using this generator to create a scavenger hunt game simply using urls to specific flikr account images that contain visual clues and pointers to a next step.

The next step for real is another story.

The next step is a scavenger hunt linking water and information, or at least determining where the links need to be made.

A Superstructers view of H1N1

First off, its not really "swine" flu, so far no known recent swine cases. Its a novel version of H1N1 which was a very virulent strain of flu that affected mostly my grandparents generation around 1918. Although there will be many problems found in the industrial swine industry similar to recent discoveries of rampant filth in the peanut and pistachio industries, H1N1 has more to do with our ability to meet the basic hygiene needs of the worlds population, to provide a hand washing place as well as a point of waste elimination and site of clean water for drinking.

QR code generator and site scavenger hunt maker

Today I am struggling through making an on site QR code generator. I know that other people have done it, I have downloaded the drupal module mobile codes, and now i just need to figure it out. In theory once you can create your own QR codes you can also modify them to be logos as well as QR codes in various ways.

Bright Green cyberpunk parks

Derelict cities like Flint Michigan are seizing the downturn opportunity to re size their cities and create new park spaces and coherent neighborhoods. The LA River Project has made bike paths and aquifers that have enlivened the local citizens spaces.

Significance and Sustenance

Its time for us to all learn how to superstruct for real right now. Until this last weeks retreat I am not sure I understood how rare and unique this talent is. There is a certain tendency in the modern world to compartmentalize, to go vertical and lateral and horizontal. Systemic thinking means using organic models rather than trying to fit mechanical models to organic situations. Systemic thinking means that you zig and you zag, you loop and you spiral and sometimes you bifurcate.

On Superstruct and the 2019 experiment.

Superstruct for me took place mostly in September of last year during the official game. For several weeks along with a large community of gamers I played a live action role playing game or LARP that I was living in the future in the year 2019.

wrangling an art space

Really I want to make a game with this thing. Its just settling in to my brain how it all works and what is possible. meanwhile there are a couple of local youth projects that need some space, some presence and the tool set. So somehow i need to carve out the kids a treehouse or fort with this thing.

the feeds, the products, the video flash

It was a great feeling to finally get the flikr image feed icons on the sidebar of the site today. In general I spent a couple of hours toying around with feds, mostly using # hashtags to search twitter feeds. There is a really powerful aspect of the RSS that always eluded me. I could see how they might be of use, somehow getting caught out without a regular HTML editor after I quit dreamweaver I never learned how to use them properly.

So naturally its a game right?

For over twenty years I have used UNIX or Linux on and off as part of my art process. First it was all GNU and then it became Open Source in its articulation. As the internet has evolved awareness of the system and development of tools with it have really progressed. Following sources like slashdot and reading Linux boards on the modern internet the question has come up numerous times...why isn't there a great game on Linux?

Finally a resting point.

It seems like I have been searching through potential digital mediums for awhile now. Beyond html there are various sort of (Open Source of course) tools that allow an expanded participatory web 2.0 type experience. I have installed things that I use a lot like the wiki, and I have totally deleted certain software like some collaborative stuff that shifted and went proprietary right after I got used to it at all.
